Who are we and what are we all about?

We are a 'Church with heart in the Heart of the Valley' ... a community devoted to following the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Together we seek to welcome people of all faith backgrounds, along with those who possess no previous faith experience at all to our church family. Our desire is to genuinely reflect the love of Jesus, helping people to enter into a meaningful relationship and become passionate followers of Him. That relationship begins with understanding the central message of the Bible: Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him (John 14:6). Our church exists to proclaim that simple, but life-changing message in the Ottawa Valley and across the globe. This is with the ultimate goal of enjoying and experiencing life as it was originally intended ... fully and with real purpose.

We believe and teach that the Bible is God's truth, not just for the past, but more importantly, for this age as well. It has no 'sell-by' date! The Word of God acts as our only reliable guidebook for faith and living. We are a family-oriented church that is taking steps towards a more comprehensive and contemporary ministry of faith and worship. Our desire is to reach out in culturally sensitive ways to all the families of Pembroke and its surrounding communities.  We believe that the good news of God's love is worth sharing with a world that is constantly searching for a deeper spiritual meaning and purpose.

We have three ways in which we are making our Mission (Becoming Passionate Followers of Jesus) a reality …

  • Worshipping Christ - Our aim is to lead you into the presence of Jesus through vibrant corporate worship, observing church ordinances, and expositional teaching of God’s Word.
  • Finding Community - We believe we were made to live and do spiritual life with a community of people.  At Calvary, the chief ways we do that are through Small Groups, Prayer Meeting, in-formal discipleship, connection through our ministries as we serve together, and in building relationships with our neighbours next door.
  • Discovering Your Calling - You have gifts, talents, and abilities given to you by God, and we desire to show you how you could use those gifts to make a difference in the Kingdom. We want you to find a place to plug in by serving.

Here's the link to the sermon Pastor Richard preached on January 2015 outlining these things in greater detail - Looking to 2015 and Beyond.
