OUR PASTORAL TEAM
Lead Pastor: Richard Agnew
Richard was born and raised in Dungannon, Northern Ireland. Together, he and his wife Jennifer enjoy the special blessing associated with raising four young boys (Sam, Callum, Theo, and Owen). Needless to say, home is a busy place to be! Saved during his second year of college in Edinburgh, Scotland, Rich worked for 9 years as a physiotherapist before pursuing the call God placed on his heart to enter pastoral ministry, completing further biblical training at Grace Theological Seminary, Regent College, and Acadia Divinity College.
Richard is passionate about discipleship, missions and life-long learning. He loves to read, follows rugby and soccer (Ulster & Manchester United fan respectively), enjoys racquet sports, and golfs a wee bit! The Agnews arrived at CBC in December 2011 after 6 years of ministry in Prince Edward Island.
Associate Pastor: Paul DeGraaf
Paul and Denise DeGraaf spent 24 years in pastoral ministry before recently taking a 7-year sabbatical to renew and restore both their personal spiritual lives and their relationship together. Prior to joining our pastoral team in a part-time capacity in September of 2014, Paul and Denise had achieved their Class ACZ licenses together, and team-drove semi-truck all over North America, logging more than a million miles on the road. Those close quarters and many hours alone behind the wheel thankfully offered the perfect venue for them to work on their relationship with each other, and with God.
The DeGraafs have the blessing of two grown children, and it thrills their hearts to see their children and spouses actively seeking to follow the Lord and grow in their spiritual lives. Amie and Jonathan (Calgary, AB) and Josh and Rebecca (Petawawa, ON) generously share the joy of the six grandchildren with Paul and Denise. While driving, Paul enthusiastically developed a talent and love for photography. His photos of #athousandglorioussunrises and other themes are matched with Bible verses, and have become a joy to many. You might also find Paul at peace working with his portable saw mill at home, preparing the timber to build a workshop and drive-shed that he and his son, Josh have plans to construct together.
YOUTH PASTORAL INTERN: DAVID SYMONS
Dave comes to Calvary's pastoral team having served a year and a half in Poland with Word of Life. Starting in November 2016, his primary responsibility will be to shepherd and lead our High School ministry here at CBC, as well as be exposed to a wide array of other aspects of ministry throughout our church family. A graduate of Bible Baptist College and Seminary, Dave has a heart for youth, discipleship, and missions. Welcome, Dave!
Trailhead Pastor: Tim Roddick
After close to a decade of fruitful ministry in London, ON, in February of 2008, Tim, his wife Stephanie, and their two young children, Brodie and Danica began a new season of ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Pembroke. During their time here, both Tim and Stephanie developed an increasing call to minister more specifically to the expanding population of Petawawa and its surrounding area.
Supported and encouraged by the CBC family, in the spring of 2014, Tim and Stephanie were welcomed as church planters within the Central Region of The Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada. Tim still remains a part of the CBC pastoral team, with a focused responsibility in nearby Petawawa, specifically overseeing the new work of Trailhead Baptist Church, a 'daughter church' of CBC that launched in November of 2015, whom presently gather Sunday mornings for worship at Valour School in Petawawa.
